The waiting is killing you. I know its absolutely awful the prelude of waiting before each step in treatment. In terms of husband support etc., just think of it as secret women's business. Years ago men weren't even allowed in to the hospital let alone the birthing room but the woman did ok. Even in todays world the menopause which every woman goes through with different side effects for each one means the woman walks a lonely path to recover by themselves. Women are strong! So will you be.
I expect you will do great with your first dose of chemo and wonder what all the fuss was about in the future. Enjoy some pampering and care in hospital. I know of some women, particularly the very old who have stayed in hospital during their entire chemo treatments. They do get to relax a lot, away from daily stress which is good. Do you have an iPhone or laptop or even a good book to take your mind off things during chemo?
I took my laptop, got it plugged in behind the chemo chair and watched an uplifting dvd movie I had seen before. I used a head set so I could crank it up loud. It had good exciting music and the extra long first chemo visit (they do it really slow) helped pass the time like it was only several minutes not hours. Bring the font size up bigger if you want to read ebooks. I kept reading the first couple lines over and over though so I did the movie thing instead.
Don't forget to take your pre med anti nausea pills with you if you are on them and your phone charger for hospital (something most everyone forgets.) Good luck and I will be thinking of you. XXXX
