I've got the mange!!!

Hi everyone

Well here we all are..... and I certainly am grateful I am alive, breathing and still have the capacity to whinge a bit..... double mastecomy 8/11 lobular, DCIS and tubular... no lymph gland involvement, ER+ PR+ HER2 - .  Pretty lucky all round....... BUT......

Anyone have any ideas how to manage revolting skin( psorasis which has decided to really take off) I was able to almost keep it under control, however tamoxifen seems to have really irritated it.  My oncologist has taken me off Tamoxifen for 6 weeks ( am up to week 4) and lucky me... I have my period again!!!! Looks like I won't be changing drugs!

Am loosing my ability to laugh as I look like a mangy dog.... now I have scabby, scaly skin, and growing fatter ona daily basis, spend three hours a day in lycra ( yes lycra) and have cut back on my own form of self medication... wine... maybe I should spell that whine???  Any one, anywhere with any ideas which may help over  the next 5  years???  Am finding that this is becoming the straw that is doing my head in...

  • Hi Such is Life

No I haven't tried Toms PAw Paw cream, but will google and give it a try.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I really appreciate it!

  • Hi Di

Thanks for your suggestion.... I have tried Moo Goo.... easy to use, no staining, no drama but didn't work at all for me.  I've tried some pretty interesting stuff.... even  stuff from the Vet!!!!   I appreciate you dropping me a line though..

Thank goodness in I live in a colder climate and am able to cover up !

    Cheers

  • Hi Sheena -- can't guarantee it will work for you, but I've used Moo Goo on dermatitis/psoriasis on my face with really good results (they have a product especially for it).  You can usually find it in a health food-type store.  I know some of the women in the network have used it for skin protection during radiotherapy.

Hope you find something that works for you soon -- skin problems are so fraught, aren't they??

  • Not sure if you would of tried it and it is pretty expensive but Tom Mcarthur's paw paw cream is  a miracle cure for some, there is a soap as well, a quick google search hopefully would bring it up for you worth a look anyway, hope you get some relief soon, I have tried the face cream and the soap, and bought the normal one for mother in law whom suffers from skin cancers and it has helped her a lot.
