Itching

i have a different torture today.
The breast which had the lumpectomy is so itchy, deep inside, that I'm going gaga. I've been told not to apply heat packs, cold packs, or massage the area.  So how does one live with 24/7 itch?
(I have contemplated walking hard into a door, but my husband says that's not a good idea.)
  • The scar itch I could deal with. I've suffered from eczema all my life and scratching is part of who I am. I know that gentle pressure or a cool flannel helps relieve a surface itch. But this is deep inside my breast and no fingers, or flannels, will reach it. And my care team forbids it! That's like your Mum threatening all hell if she catches you scratching your eczema!
it might have to be the whiskey option.
  • My reconstruction scar itches like mad ...scratching close but not the actual area seems to solve it...still gently though.
  • I'm with Marg, its annoying but it just means the wound is healing, I totally hear you my tummy incision from my Diep flap reconstruction up until about a week ago drove me NUTS!!! incessant itch OMG!! i scratched around it haha!! xo Melinda
  • The itching is pretty normal, as long as the boob isn't hot and swollen it should resolve in a couple of days. They are deep wounds and itch as they are healing. Have whiskey ( of the norty of your choice) anyway.
  • No! No itching! If you can't have Phenergan have whiskey! At least then if you walk into a door it will be by accident...
  • Oh how I wish I could! But that drug makes me hallucinate. I really would be walking into doors and across the ceiling if I took it.
