Introducing myself

Thank you for the birthday wishes, and for telling me that save means send. 

I'm not sure what 'Invasive Ductal' breast cancer is, but am so pleased that it was caught in time for you.  Cancer is an obscenity in my belief, and I love to hear of people beating it.

Mine is E negative, with the other two markers being positive.  E positive responds to estrogen chemo, at present from what the oncologist told me, only an early operation will work for E negative.

I do feel quite comfortable coming here and talking to other ladies, like most teachers I'm a motor mouth, and love people.  But, I do have some bad days and sleep all day and night, so come when I can. 

I am just very glad that support sites exist for those of us who can't get to a support group in person.

Hi Stella,

My mother is around your age ( 72 next year!) and she had BC when she was 59 and then a brain aneurism when she was 62 so she too has had a rough trot! I miss the person she was 9 years ago and would love to have her here while I go through my own BC journey but she can't fly nor drive ( she is in Hobart and I'm in Perth) and has short term memory problems. I miss that in particular not her being able to call. I have to make all the calls.

 Welcome to a wonderful ste full of amazing people. They have been my lifeline and are all travelling their own journeys but  are willing to share and offer advice. Please ask away and keep blogging for as long as you can.

I hope someone reads this, I replied to Sarah yesterday, but I couldn't find a send button.  I'm one of those people who needs something far simpler than 'The idiots Guide To The Internet'.  Some sites I find easy, this one really has me puzzled.

Welcome to our site.  How wondeful that you found us "pink sisters".  This site is amazing.  There is only support and assistance - nothing negative or critical.  We welcome you with open arms.  As the ladies have said there are so many of us so if you have any concerns or questions just ask.  I am from Rockhampton but am holidaying in Mansfield with my family.  We went to Victoria Point today and I remarked that I have never been to Stradbroke Island.  What a great spot you have.  Keep your peace and enjoy NOW.  I have secondary bc and it is just one year since my second diagnosis.  My little grandson who is 20 months is trying to disrupt my typing so I will have to cut this short.  Please keep coming on this site.  I will request you as a contact so that I can "talk" again. Happy Birthday Stella for Sunday and welcome to BCNA, As Sarah said in her post above this site is for everyone. I am so sorry that you have been suffering from Polio since you were 10 and now breast cancer. You have  been dealt a really  rough deal.  You didn't mention what type of breast cancer you have ? It might help mentioning it as there are so many really lovely ladies on here that have advanced breast cancer too.

I am so sad  that the treatments offered  might not have been of any value to you. It doesn't seem very fair does it?  Put in the same situation i am not sure what i would do.   The island you live on sounds as though it is a beautiful place to relax and lap up that fresh ocean breeze.  

Stella, my cancer was invasive ductal and was caught before it spread hopefully!      On this site it doesn't matter what type or grade of BC  you have  as we are all here for the same reason which is to find some compassionate  people who know what you are feeling and can offer some words of wisdom and support. I hope you feel comfortable to come and talk with us all because we are a caring mob.

This breast cancer is a bitch and it is not discrimiantory in who it picks. I guess you have already had plenty of challenges in your life with having polio at such a young age and being a survivor too it just seems unfair when it picks you. You sound pretty philisophical about it all and living where you are (I am north of Brisbane) will be able to sit with the sun in your face as long as you can.
