Infusa Port continued

I know I have blogged about my port before, but OMG it is stressing me out at the moment. Last night I was lying in bed trying to go to sleep when I ran my hand over my chest and thought, what's that? Is it a lump just below my collar bone? Feels very odd and sore. Now I'm thinking after a sleepless night is it the line for the port? Dragged out my chest X-ray taken when the port was inserted and yes a line does run near my collarbone. Meanwhile it's sore to touch and I can definitely feel something but it doesn't feel like it did when I originally found the lump. Am I over reacting, being paranoid or is there something there that shouldn't?

    My port has only just settled down, and I have just finished all my treatment.  I didnt touch it because it freaked me out, and I did have a moment when I thought it had moved.  I phoned my BC Nurse and asked her opinion, but by the time I got to speak to her it had settled again.  Things do go wrong with it Ive heard.  But for me, it hasnt.  Its right in line with my bra strap, so that has been a pain in the ...... too.  I had the biggest scare when I had been in for my Radiation prep for the first time, had had my arms above my head for about 15 mins, and then that night, I freaked out because it was hurting.  It ended up all being muscle related and obviously my muscles were in a diff position.  But talking to your oncologist or your surgeon is essential for your personal concerns.  No matter if its once or twice or fifty times!  I was shocked to hear Id have to enjoy mine for years ahead, because it is what they have decided to do in my instance.  They said if its really annoying they can take it out now, but its smarter to leave it in for awhile, just incase.  I decided Id leave it in, only because in my lucky world, if I take it out, theyd need to use it again!  I can see I can learn to live with it, and go back for the 6 weekly flush at the hospital!  hang in there chicky!  XX Bel

    Hi Pam, yes I rang the surgeon's rooms today and explained my concerns. The message came back that yes it would be the catheter from the port that I can feel. The thing that frustrates me is from the day it was inserted I have felt discomfort and pain. It hurts when i touch the port and I have said previously and will say it again my right side of the chest up to the collar bone hurts. I have 12 more Herceptin to get through and I'm starting to think quality of life is better than finding a vein every three weeks. Cheryle :)
