Well I finally did it. Last week I had my silicone implant removed. Minor surgical procedure and no drains. Convinced the surgeon to not put any implant back in. So I am flat on one side now except for a small amount of excess skin but it looks ok. Still healing so just resting.

take it easy Smez and make sure you rest while you heal.

Thanks solider crab. 1 wk down few more to go. Feel so much better. All the pressure has gone and the itching so I am happy.

I had bilateral mastectomy with no recon so I love being flat and fabulous ....... I have too many allergies to even think about recon.

I think that was my problem I am allergic to all the surgical tapes, fixomil, micropore. Should have known better. Not to worry fixed now. Have a great day.

Hi, I am most likely to have mastectomy on my left and lymp nodes removed. I am not keen on having an implant, I guess its all physcological. I dont know how it would look just having 1 breast. This is where i get lost and need to know if anyone else has not had recons and living with 1 breast only maybe using a prosthetic. ..

4 years happily mono boobed. I am quite large breasted, never fancied a reconstruction and use a prosthesis. I am comfortable with being as I am, although stripping in an Icelandic shared bathing room last year before going in the hot pool was a deep breath, and then utterly liberating! Don't think about my prosthesis once I slip it in my bra. Each to her own, but I am also happy with my decision.

Hulos its definitely an individual choice. I did immediate recon after masectomy and it didn't suit me. 3 yrs later its been removed and I am happy. I would have waited in hindsight now but it was a big choice to make then. Dont rush into anything until you are sure. Lots of my friends have recons and lots without. It takes time to get use to your body. Probably something that I should have dealt with 3 yrs ago. I am just glad the cancer is gone and now so is the foreign body. If you can ask to see some photos of different recons or ask your girls in support group to see what they look like. Take care and just know there is light and love healing being sent from the west.

I have been living with one breast since August last year. Have just finished chemo & start radiation soon. Am planning on having other breast removed & reconstruction of both at same time later this year. For me I would rather have no breasts than one. It is very obvious if I decide to go bra less at home & can't wear a lot of my dresses. It is a very personal thing & a huge operation but hopefully it will be the right choice for me.

Only 10% of women have reconstruction so based on those stats hundreds of women are living with one breast and a prostheses. You can always have recon done at a later stage if you are not happy.

I'm allegric to lots of tapes but thus far no issues with my implant.
