Hysterectomy

Hi everyone hope you are all going well with your journeys & that you all had a lovely Easter break.. Just a little up date on how I'm going, it's been 10 days since my hysterectomy & the last tens days have been hard, I had a few complications with infections & catheters.. The plan was to come home with catheter still in to give my bladder a rest, they said it was traumatised from the surgery & that it had to stay in for a week.. So I came home & 2 days later I wasn't feeling well, so went back to hospital & found I had 2 infections 1 in the bladder & 1 in my stitches:(:( So they changed the catheter & put me on antibiotics that was last Wednesday so now I'm feeling much better:):) I have just had the catheter removed & the nurse also gave me my results which I'm am so pleased to say they were clear I am so happy & relieved that I don't have to deal with another cancer, I see the gyno in a few weeks time for check up & to go over the results properly, so now finally I can start tamoxifen!!! Just lounging around recuperating.... Take care everyone:) Christine :) xox

  • Hi Christine, Sounds like you are in a good place after your operation. It can be quite tricky with the bladder not wanting to work straight after,I also came home with a catheter as my bladder had 'stage fright'. Let us know how you progress and your journey with tamoxifen. Wendy xx

  • That's great that everything is going well for you & that tamoxifen has been good to you, so I guess it doesn't matter what brand you get then... I'm hoping it will be the same for me...what a great idea Setting an alarm I will be doing this as well thanks:) I have been taking things really slow, I don't have any energy for anything much, but I guess that will improve as time goes by, just got to give it time:) It will be nice for you to start doing some normal things again, I think we all take things for granted when we are not sick, it's when you go down you realize how important all the simple things are....take care:) Helen & best wishes for the rest of your journey..... • Hi Christine,

Sorry to hear that you have had a couple of complications with your hysterectomy. Tomorrow will be 6 weeks since I had my hysterectomy. I was lucky and have had no complications. Have been taking things slow and am looking forward to doing more things in the next couple of weeks.

I have been on tamoxifen just over a year now. Have not had any real side effects to speak of. I have had several brands of tamoxifen and have found them all ok.

I have an alarm set on my mobile phone that goes off at 7.30am each morning to remind me to take my tablet.  This work for me.

All the best for your recovery,

    Helen.

  • Thank you... I'm pretty happy & exhausted from my surgery, it will take time to recover from this one, it was a biggie for me...... like I was saying to Robyn did you bother with brand names of tamoxifen? & I think I will hit & miss at times with taking it... So if you forget a dose do you make up for that dose or just forget about it..that's sounds great sleeping through side affects :) hope that happens for me lol...It really is a good feeling to know the worst is behind me now..hope you are feeling better & that something can be done for your Lymphoedema..... Take care Deanne... Christine:) xox
  • Thank you & Hey I'm sorry to hear about your Osteoporosis, hope it all goes well for you & I'm so glad you found out before you broke any bones:) my sister found out she had osteo when she fell over & broke her pelvis in 3 places, it took a long time to heal she was only 40... Even though I am exhausted from my surgery, I am Looking fwd to the next part of my journey & I have a great naturopath who will help me out, if I get any side affects to tamoxifen!! I've heard to watch out for what brand you get because of different ingredients, what brand did you get & do you also take yours at nite time... Take care Robyn:) Christine:) xox
  • So glad that you have some good news after all that! Good luck with the tamoxifen. I have been taking it for almost 6 months and am finding it just fine. The hardest bit is remembering to take it at first! I have found it helpful to take it at night just before dinner. This seems to mean I sleep through any side effects! Rest up, it sounds like the hard stuff is behind you now. Deanne xxx
  • That is great news,so the next part of your journey begins.Hopefully you will find Tamoxifen easy ,as I do.Take care.xoxRobyn
