Hypoechoic lesion

Hi I have 6 monthly mammograms and ultra sounds due to family history and past lumpectomy, which thankfully was benign. I have just got results which showed a hypoechoic lesion that has grown since last tests. Old 7mm x 4mm x 6mm.....new 8mm x 4mm x 11mm.  I am going for a fna in the next week. Just wondering if i should be worried that this has grown? And is that a big difference in 6 months?

  • Hi Kath & Rebecca,

Thank you  I must admit I am a little worried but I am trying to not let it consume my every thought.  I am going to be positive and just wait and see what happens.  What will be, will be!  Thank you xx
  • Hello Tracey,

I think a healthy alert to it is warranted but don't think you should be worried, because worrying does nothing :p . You've been through a benign growth before so it just may be history repeating, but I believe things like this become "suspicious" if they grow by more than 20%. I do think you should have the test, take a breath and try to keep it out of your mind until the results are in. It's a difficult thing to do but there's no value to allowing it to weigh on your mind.

Wishing you the best. Please update us when you know what's going on.

  • Can't  help with that, the fna will definitely help ease the worry. So sorry you have the wait to get through. Kath x
