- Sorry this is a bit late. I went looking for "how long the blue dye lasted for". My surgery was end Feb 2020 and my nipple is still blue. And more swollen than the other one. It took 2 or 3 jumping on and off the table and lots of massage before the node scan was adequate. I found the hookwire very uncomfortable. I had expected the local anaesthetic to prevent the pain of the wire but apparently they could not inject deep enough for the site of my cancer so the last bit hurt.
- KarynJMemberHi @Russian_Blue23. I had my surgery in March 2018. I still can see a faint trace of the blue dye 2.5 years later. It's not as luminescent but still noticeable. They tell me it will eventually disappear. I'm not holding my breath.
- Oh my - 2.5y and still blue - we'll glow in the dark for ages! My procedure took nearly 3h to get a result sufficient to help guide the surgery - I was on and off the table, massaging breast/nipple that many times. But joy of joys, the two nodes were clear. So no chemo and onto the intensive radiotherapy.
- ddonMemberLOL - I found myself wondering for a split second if I had any blue left - and then went duh!! I had my breast right off! Guess my blue dye got thrown in yellow skip bin somewhere.
- kamadaMember@ddon 😂 I saw the post and immediately remembered that I hadn’t noticed my blue nipple for some time and dragged my boob out for an inspection to find that it wasn’t blue any more 😳. When did that happen?? I was watching it so carefully then missed the transformation - bugger! Anyway @Russian_Blue23 my surgery was August 2019 but can’t help with exactly how long it took 😂. Glad to hear you have a good prognosis. Best of luck with your treatment! 😘
- Thank you Karen, Ddon and Kamada for replies. Yes, I am thankful for a good prognosis though the ILCs can be sneaky I have read. 6mth appointment with surgeon this Friday. Seroma still there the ultrasound shows.
- CathywMembersurgery in December 2019, still a tinge of blue and some. Colour from radiotherapy...
- BeaglemumMemberHi All - my surgery was Sep 2019, I still have a very faint blue tinge in places but mostly gone - must say I thought my Surgeon was joking when he said it would take around 6 months to go
- shs14MemberHow fascinating, I'm so glad you asked that question @Russian_Blue23 .
My surgery was April 2019 and still blue, but only a little bit on the edge! Thats so interesting that you still have some from 2018 @KarynJ :s Guess I won't hold my breath for mine to go! - CathywMemberStill have a bit of colour after surgery in December 19...I thought at the time it will always be that incandescent blue, it seemed to take ages to fade, even a little bit...
