- ZoffielMemberAbout 4 weeks seems to be the norm. Enough time for your white cells to recover and you to get your guts sorted out after chemo so you aren't heading in constipated and malnourished.
As others have said, it can be earlier, but I'd think that would be driven by surgeon availability and pressure you may be under to get back to work or the urgency to remove active cells. - AnnedipaMemberI was originally told it would be about 4 weeks but i ended up having my mastectomies 2 weeks to the day after my last chemo session.
- Polly_RoseMemberHi Unicornkisses.
I had 6 months of chemo before my surgery and then mastectomy and node clearance 2 weeks to the day after my final round of chemo. My medical team told me that the life cycle of cancer cells was around 3 weeks and as I still had active cancer in my breast and nodes, then I should have surgery within that 3 week period so they made it 2 weeks to be sure. I hope you get an idea soon from your medical team. Take care
Polly - primekMemberI believe 3 to 4 weeks is usually the time frame. Enough time for white cell count to recover.
