How careful when immune system low...?

Any tips for does and don'ts during the middle week of my 3 week cycle when my immune system bottoms out?? Supermarkets? Parties? Family and friends... I don't want to cocoon myself but I do want to avoid ending up in hospital! I feel OK so how do I remember to be careful of what!!??

  • Hey EricaLeonie has given you great words of wisdom.  Don't lock yourself away and enjoy time with family and friends but you just need to be aware.Stay away from doctors waiting rooms and hospital waiting rooms as best you can.  I know that sounds silly but you can always just wait around the corner and not be in the thick of all the germs.  If you explain that to the reception staff they will understand.  When your immune system is at it's lowest is where you will need to be most careful.  Keep away from sick people such as grandees if you have any.  Use your bacterial hand gel everywhere you go, carry a stash in your handbag.  I think it is mainly common sense which i know you have lots of love.  Mainly just be aware.  If you have done all you can to keep yourself well there is not much more you can do that this.I hope you still get to enjoy your coffees and lunches etc. with family and friends.Lots of Love, Mich xoxox
  • I pretty well stayed away from public places when I was on chemo.  Noone with any germs was allowed in my home.  If anyone visited me I would sit on the verandah in the fresh air.  You don't need to be cocooned but just aware of catching germs.  I never ventured out until at least the 10th day after chemo and only to shopping centres that were not contained in big shopping complexes.  Just be sensible and go with your gut feelings.
