Sometimes I'm feeling fine & then I get a funny panicky feeling in my head which makes me feel completely unable to cope. Then a moment later I get really warm and have to take a layer of clothes off.
I guess this is a hot flush? Luckily it passes fairly quickly but I hate the bad feeling I get in my head. Do other people have that?
I am on triporelin which has shut down my ovaries (last period was in November) & I started on tamoxifen last week.
I'm the same as you Chris-hand fans everywhere.Have one in my handbag at all times and keep a steady supply of iceblocks in the freezer.My husband thinks I've become obsessed with the weather.I worry about going out and if there is air con.and what should I wear etc.It's not only uncomfortable but also embarassing when you turn beetroot red.I have to say my nights are better since going on Endep-I usually sleep ok now.I used to wake at 3am and thrash around for 3hrs then go back to sleep at 6am.What is it with that pattern??I'd say I'd have about 8+ flushes on a hot day and maybe 4 on a cool day.Before endep it was every 15 mins.Chris do you think HRT contributed to your breast cancer?I guess you weren't on it for that long.I reckon if men had these hot flushes a remedy would be found quick smart.O dear,that sounds abit sexist.But they really don't understand.

Hi Chris, Wow!! I thought my hot flushes were bad at every 2 hours day and night but yours were much worse. Mine have settled down now in the last six months but still very frustrating to be woken every night by 2am at the latest and then every hour till about 5am when I get up and go walking for 30 minutes. I was diagnosed in Oct 2008 ER+ left breast mastectomy, chemo, radiation, tamoxifen for 1 year and now on Femara (which has lessened my bone density by 11 per cent in 18 months) so now on Caltrate as well. I too long for the night with no hot flushes so I can once again get a good nights sleep.

I hope they get better because with this hot weather they are very uncomfortable,especially at night. I am seeing my oncologist mid Jan, so will ask him about Endep then.

If you have only just started Tamoxifen then give it a few months as the flushes might settle down.There are a few drugs that may help with the hot flushes.I take Endep 10mg which is an antidepressant but a very low dose. It helps with sleep,mood and hot flushes.It doesn't take them away entirely though.Talk to your doctor about your options cos those flushes are a real pain.

Side effect of chemo, when it was happening to me, like chemo menopause. It did past after the treatment was over and months later I got my period cycle back, mojo back too.
I'm on Tamoxifen and I get hot flushes.They're not as bad since starting endep which is an antidepressant that counteracts hot flushes.When I get one my pulse races and I can feel abit frantic and I can't concentrate till it's over.It only lasts for a minute or so-but VERY annoying!
