At home my surgery was done . The cut is bigger than expected goes from Sternam to back shoulder blade. Bit depressed today. Pain is as expected. See Doctor tomorrow but will not have results so still don't don't if having chemo. Met a nice girl next to my bed had Lumpechtomy. Been in a bad mood as cannot do normal things and am wanting to be normal again.

  • Saw Doctor today and yes you are right. Just a shock that it goes all the way round to back. Will know about chemo Friday Thankyou hugs Peta hope all well with you

  • Glad you came through the op ok. I have an idea why the cut is a bit longer as I know a lady who had a shorter one and now there is an annoying lose bit of skin back there that catches every time she swings her arms. Its something to do with how the breast was holding it down and then with no breast it goes a bit loose. You shouldn't have any trouble with that so that's a good thing.

It does take several days to get the anaesthetic out of your system so drink plenty of water so your body can expel it. Take your time with the healing and rest up. Yup I know its boring as but try to get joy from the simple things like a lovely day or a new garden flower. The better you feel the faster you heal. <3

  • Hi Peta

Glad to hear you are home. It's understandable that you are feeling a little down. The anaesthetic alone can do that to you. It's frustrating not be able to do what you want when you want but the pain and the restriction is stopping you from doing too much and hurting yourself. As Tracey said, maintain a regime of pain meds so that the pain doesn't get out of hand and give yourself time to heal. With everything you are going through you are entitled to a bad mood! Go with the flow and allow yourself time. Take care. Karen xox

Hi PETA, glad that your surgery went well and that you're now at home, you'll rest better there. Your feelings sound pretty normal, and it's healthy to vent, especially here. Just take it 1 day at a time, and give yourself time to rest and heal. We all want to return to normal, that's a natural feeling, and you will in time. It will take lots of patience, and tears of frustration, however you will get there Honey. Come back to us for information and support along the way, it makes a big difference to your recovery, and you'll link up with some awesome people who care about supporting you.

Sending you a big cuddle, Trace ????????

  • Hi Peta, good to hear you are home. Don't hold back on the painkillers if you need them. Ok to feel a bit down, it's such an anticlimax after surgery when you just have to wait for those results. You will be able to do those normal things again, it's just gonna take time. Hope you feel better with some rest, Tracey ??

  • Hey Peta

Feel free to say anything here about your feelings. Everyone cares and no one judges. Pain and physical restriction can really challenge our coping. I hope each day you are having some gains. Big operation! All the best with the visit to the doctor tomorrow. Let us know how it goes. You've been through so much. We're cheering you on.
