Here we go again😢.

Haven't posted for a while as I have been recovering from a mastectomy and node clearance.
They checked my other breast the day of the surgery and decided the lump they found in it was all ok, so not to worry. Well......weeks down the track and I have to go in for another mamo and then an ultrasound again. Couldnt find it on the ultrasound so had to do the biopsy using what I think was a 3D mamogram(very dignified lying on your stomach with you boob in a hole and they work from down there!).  The sample came back positive.....could not believe this was happening again. It was another primary of lobular cancer😭. So chemo was postponed and I now have decided to have it off to match the other one on the 11th of january. I could have had a lumpectomy but am so scared it will come back again. It was also a small primary. The other side tumor was 10 cm! So much for mamograms, neither showed up. One good thing is the surgeon is pretty sure it wont be in the lymph nodes, good because I found that the worst bit to get over. They will be doing a sentinial biopsy before the op so lots of praying and fingers crossed its not in them. My positive side of all this is I will be able to choose the size of my breasts later, definately smaller than they were! I wont be lopsided anymore.....one big boob is really annoying! Flat chested for now is looking good!😉
I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a very healthy new year to us all! ⛄❄⛄❄⛄

  • Thankyou all so much for your kind words! Like my daughter said the other day, "Mum your boobs are trying to kill you , you've made the right choice!"
I dont think of myself as brave but boy I never thought I'd be able to make these decisions!
I hope you all have a very happy Christmas and a very healthy new year!🍒🎄🍒xx
  • Once you can't trust  them, they need to go in the bin. Or wherever they put tits with murderous intentions. Good luck. Mxx
  • @Hils
Hoping that all goes well with the second surgery, what a shock for you.
You are a very courageous lady, I am sure your attitude will help you get through this and the rest of your treatment.  I will be thinking of you on the 11th January x
  • Arse! But what the others said. Hang tight and you'll get there. Onwards and upwards. K xox
  • Hi @Hils
I just wanted to say thinking of you and imagining that terrible drop you get in your gut when you hear the results, especially after recovering from your surgery.
My situation was different, I had a wedge excision and the surgeon said they got it all ....'BUT' ....they found another tumour in the pathology, so back again for another op. At the time my tummy just dropped like a rock with profound disappointment. All good now though, I'm back on the train!
I think I would do the same as you too, wishing you a relaxing Christmas and all the VERY best to you for the 11 January. Keep us posted,
    xx

  • Gosh @Hils - you’ve had a really tough time of it with this 2nd diagnosis.  We’ll be thinking of you over Xmas and New Year as you approach your next surgery.   Xx

Yes, sadly, mammograms are pretty useless against dense breast tissue :(  Shame it was missed with US as well tho!  Fingers crossed, the nodes are clear as well.

Take care and all the best for Xmas xx
  • Hi @Hils. I had two of those but I thought it was rather funny the first time. The second time hurt as the plates they used to squish the boob prior to the biopsy pressed into my clavicle and bruised me. I have to admit, I am with you on your choice. I told my hubby that if it gets into the other side then off it comes regardless of the size. Excellent that they found it before chemo. Relax over Christmas knowing it is small and safe and then you can barrel on through the next step. Big hugs
  • Dear @Hils, Thanks for your Christmas and New Year good wishes. Hope you have a good Christmas too. Other network members will express themselves better than me, so I will just say
