Here I Am Again!!

Yes,the radiation sets it all off again.I found lying in a warm salt bath and moving/massaging the arm and chest helped.Keep up the arm exercises.It may be months before it improves and even then,you may be left with a permanent slight discomfort.Your chest skin is less elastic after radiation. So sorry to hear that your grandson will be moving further away.I hope they will keep a spare room for you to come and stay.My daughter is building a house less than 10mins away so that's good if they ever have children.When my hair got to 1/2 an inch I think I swapped to headbands which were much cooler. I just folded my cotton bandanas over a few times and tyed a knot at the back.

Now you just go right ahead and have your sooky la la day-you've earned it ! Perhaps the Arimadex will be less taxing on your joints in time.I know I had aches and pains when I started Tamoxifen but it settled down after a few months -different drug I know.It mostly gives me hot flushes now and abit of fluid retention.It's hard to swallow a pill when you know you'll feel worse off for it.I'm glad your tests  came back clear,that must have been a relief for you.You are probably like me,on 3mthly checkups.I'm sure I've paid for my surgeon to have a good holiday somewhere exotic! Hope you can slow down and try to enjoy this new chapter in your life, picking the furniture etc,and enjoy having your daughter with you as she will not be there for long and once she moves out again this time it will be for ever (hopefully) are they building near you? You are lucky if they are.

My son and family are moving to the Gold Coast which is about 5-51/2hrs away at the moment they are only 1 1/2hrs away which I thought was bad enough I have to keep telling myself at least it is not overseas or the other side of Australia but it feels like it to me as we will not see much of them now and will miss out on the grandson a lot. Will be so glad when this year is over, I am planning on a whole new life.....not sure what I will do but will do something.

I have started to get the stiffness in the joints from the Arimidex and with a bad dose of hayfever and Matt leaving this morning (for the G/C) I am feeling very sorry for myself.

Did your chest remain tender after rads for very long? I find it uncomfortable to wear the prosthesis for very long it is so tender, also restricted my arm movement again.

Hair only about 1/2" if that so will be wearing the rug for awhile yet it does get so hot and itchy (lice!!!)

All the tests have come back clear and next appoint with Dr in Jan so all good really shouldn't whinge but sometimes it is hard not to have a bit of "I Feel Sorry for Me Day" occassionally as long as it is not too often I think we have earned it.

Well I suppose you are wondering where 2011 went.This bc business sure takes a chunck out of your life.Congrats on your new grandson and for finishing your treatments.I personally think we should receive some sort of medal at the end! Yay that your hair is growing and you won't have to cover your head for summer-that drove me nuts last year. We moved into our new house 4weeks ago and it has been bedlam.We downsized to a single level and ,would you believe it,our youngest daughter and her partner now want come live with us while they build there house.I wouldn't mind so much but they have a crazy cat and we have already inherited my other daughter's anxious cat.I haven't even unpacked all the boxes yet-there goes my sewing room! Everyday we have at least 2 tradies here doing something or other- tv antenna man and flyscreen man today.We have also had to buy alot of furniture which might sound fun but is quite stressful ontop of all the other stuff such as fencing,landsacping,pergola etc.Luckily I threw my job in so I can be "project manager".Anyway,my new personal policy is to not stew over any one thing for more than 24hrs.Hope your tests and appointments went ok.

Grandkids sure do save the day, I do not see mine as much as I would like and will see them even less after the end of the month as they are moving to the Gold Coast and that is about a 5-6 hour drive from here, :(((((( but you can't live their lives for them (unfortunately)

After the shock of being told it is back I guess it is the same as the first time, you pick yourself up and say well what do I do now and get on with it but I think that a second time would be so hard to accept and take a bit longer to pick yourself up but we are strange beings in the way that we can keep going and I am glad that you have no intention of giving up that is half the battle.....positive thinking (don't you get sick of people telling you to stay positive?????)

Thanks for your lovely words of encouragment. Yes the family is devastated but we are tough and will fight to the end. I live in Bundaberg Qld. My family live in Maryborough & Rockhampton. Unsure of when the operation will be as yet as I'm waiting to get appointment with my surgeon. I only found out about the tumours late friday afternoon. So I have this weekend to get it in my head before dealing with the reality of doing all this again.

It's so good having grandkids to think about other than cancer. I have a 5 year old, 18month, 6 month and 3 month old grand children to doat over.

Hi Chrissy, it certainly has been a busy time I will probably wonder what to do with myself after next week apart from going back to work for 3 days a week. My granddaughter is 3 next month and my grandson was born 2 weeks ago so I do consider myself to be very lucky.

I feel so sorry for you having to go through the chemo and radiotherapy again plus operations, it must be devastating for you and your family when you thought it was all behind you, but hang in there it is just a means to the end, killing those little suckers is the important thing.

My hair is not growing longer but is getting thicker and thicker and thicker oh well I always did have thick hair but would be nice to see some length, the Arimidex can thin the hair out so may still end up bald or patchy, we must be a stronger person after all this.

My prayers are with you, when do you have your operation? and where do you live?
