Great show was on tonight about the founding of Herceptin.
It was on SBS 2. Called Cancer - cant remember the rest. Chemo brain sorry.
It was part 2. Part 1 the previous sun was about introducing chemotherapy .

I only found out this week my niece who had breast cancer was a her2 like me. She was grade 2....the largest being 1.9mm...and they removed 20 nodes...10 were positive. She was 31. And 14 years later she is still cancer free. How fantastic and inspirational is that. Sometimes we get caught up in the tragedies not the successes which can scare the bejeebies out of you. Yes things have come a long way in treatment and may many better treatments be on the horizon.
It's called "Cancer: The Eperor of all Maladies" and is based on an excellent book called "The Emperor of All maladies" by oncologist Siddhartha Mukherjee. You should also be able to catch past episodes on SBS on demand. Having read the book, I am very grateful to get breast cancer now rather than 40 years ago, or 400! Karen
