Hi Michelle,just like Tish I am pre-menopausal. I am on Zoladex and Arimidex. I will stop zoladex after two years then get blood tested to see if I have gone into full menopause. I was originally on tamoxifen only but changed to zoladex to shut ovaries down, so Arimidex is used. Kylie x

I am envious of you finishing your hormone treatment. I am counting down until mine is completed. Another year to go, which will make it 5 years.
My BC was ER+ with lymph node involvement. I was put on zoladex before chemo, and the plan was to remain on it throughout chemo and then switch to tamoxifen after chemo and radiation. I didn't tolerate tamoxifen very well, so I am on zoladex and arimidex. I can't be on arimidex alone, as it works for post-menopausal women. So I am on zoladex to keep me in menopuase. I was diagnosed at age 34 and am now 38. I'm probably one of the few people in the world who can't wait to start their 40s!
I also asked about the recent findings about staying on hormonal treatment for longer. The study that was done was about tamoxifen, not zoladex or arimidex, so it's hard to say if it is applicable to us or not. My oncologist said that at the moment that is just a study, not a recommendation. Personally, I am not too keen on the idea of staying on hormone treatment for an additional 5 years, as my partner and I would like to try to start a family, among other things.
As they say, everyone is different. It very much depends on age at diagnosis, type of cancer, and stage of cancer. I do think the oncologists know what they are doing, but definitely voice your concerns when you next see yours.
