Gosh, what a dork ... that Onc is certainly adding unwarranted stress to your situation with his suggestions. Yep, as @kmakm says .... see if you can get another opinion and maybe even consider changing Oncs. (I did.)
Re living in rural areas .. each state has a Patient Assistance Scheme to help out with fuel and accommodation costs, to try and minimise inconvenience yet allow you access to city Drs.
