Help - what Bra?

Okay.. so I've had a lumectomy... and my boob and underarm are sore... so (another silly question)... do I, or do I not wear a bra? If I do can anyone recommed a good sort/style?

I've just gone through my draw of a million bras (yes,I'm sure I've kept all my bras since puberty!) and have found 2 without underwires... one that's looks like half a singlet.. as well as a few old sports bras... is this a good excuse to go shopping and if so what do 'experienced' ladies recommend?

Oh... I've been reading some conflicting info - do I ice my breast or use heat packs to eleviate the discomfort?

  • no set rule. this is a major debate lol...

i think it should be whatever u feel.

most ppl say its from surgery - from once they take all the cancer out. no evidence of disease :) NED for short

  • Myer does have them,

i got fitted there because I didn'tknow my size (long story)

  • Target have a post surgical bra that does up at the front for around $20. Found it very comfortable.

  • Trina I had the post surgical bras, I ordered an extra one from debras online. Im about 7-8 wks post lumpectomy and still cant wear underwire bras.. I also wear Aah bras from big W.. and crop tops

Dont be afraid to use the pain meds. Be as comfortable as you can

    Hang in there

    Pamxxx

  • I got the free bra from the BCNA My Care Kit through my breast care nurses when I had my mastectomy and silicone implant reconstruction on 03/02/12 and it is AMAZING, a Berlie post surgery bra, very supportive, front and back opening, pockets for prosthesis is needed, soft and comf, yuo can also buy the bra's from lingerie stores or large department stores like Myer etc they are about $65 I think. Also I have been loving those Ahh bra crop top type bra things (the cheap ones though, mine only cost me $8 each from a discount store).

So ask your breast care nurse (or any member of your breast cancer team - surgeon, oncologist etc to see if they can order you one), the breast care nurses seem to know more about them, than most of the other related medical people, but I am sure any of them could order it for you, if you don't have access to a breast care nurse.

As to ice or heat, you are best to ask your breast care nurse or surgeon, as they know what is best for you post op.

    Hope this helps...
