Good cycles, bad cycles
Has anyone experienced different reactions to different cycles of their chemo?
I had round 3 12days ago and this one has really knocked me for six! I usually take 3 days off work but needed a week this time and even now I am just so tired. Never felt fatigue like it! My mouth ulcers were alot worse this time round, and I still have a sore tongue!
Now, I am dreading the next round, whereas usually it doesn't phase me. I'm half way through, and stopping isn't an option, but it is really getting me down a bit now, and I would be interested to see how the rest of you have coped?
I'm sure that by the 13th June when my next one is due I will be fine, but I will be glad when it's over!
Love to you all xx

We certainly go through some tissues and toilet paper in this household of late. Me with the sinus problem and of course the loose bowels. First chemo I was bunged up so bad it was like the chemo had turned everything to cement. Then the last two chemos has been the opposite. Usually from day 3-8/9 I don't leave the house in fear of having an "accident". Yes I must say each session has been different. Mostly similar but different. I much prefer the loose to solid - I hate feeling bloated and uncomfortable. You would think that we would all be slim and beautiful but each chemo weigh in has the scales rising. I have put on 2 kilos since the start. I reckon that there will be another kilo or two this weigh in. I aim to get really fit and active once I am feeling well again - albeit WHEN. XLeonie

I was beginning to think it was just ME. I normally have a problem with sinuses and the chemo seems to target weak spots. Thanks I don't feel so freaky now. XLeonie

I had the same problem but then got them to run the Cyclophosamide a bit slower and my sinuses where not where near as bad. Hope this helps.

Hi Leonie, No I haven't had any sinus trouble and only a couple of mild headaches. After reading some of the above and what some of you have gone through I feel like a wimp for complaining!! it is 2 weeks today since round 3 and the first day i have felt "human" again! I will hopefully enjoy this feeling until round 4 in a weeks time!
For me, the main thing that has troubled me is the fatigue and aching body, plus the really bad mouth ulcers. I haven't experienced any nausea thank goodness, but I get alot of "loose bowel movements" up to 8 a day on days 4-11!!
Renata, it is hard working through this, I usually have a week off then 2 weeks working 9-3.30. I am an Insurance Claims Manager which is really stressful, so I am currently just doing admin work and not managing staff! I have used all my sick leave, almost all my annual leave and now embarking on my long service leave! But, I have a big mortgage (2nd time round marriage!!) and so I need to keep the money coming in! I have insurance that only kicks in after 12 weeks, but all the specialists think that being at work will be beneficial and prevent depression, so i just do the best I can!
Anyway girls, thanks for being there, and giving me feedback on your side effects. Helps to know I'm not alone!!

Hi Ladies, no - at this point fingers crossed the sinuses seem ok - thank goodness for that as I spent this morning up at the hospital being checked out re my heart - I thought someone was giving me a massive bear hug and I couldn't breath - the nurse said it was mainly due to the injection you get 24 hours after the chemo - gee, I haven't been able to move all day - at the hospital after the nurse tested me and made sure I was ok, she said "Go home and rest, rest, rest!" - I have to say, I didn't have any choice, I have had the wind knocked out of my sales and EVERYTHING hurts! I have been 'glued' to my favourite armchair all day and slept and slept - I am hoping I have more energy tomorrow! Not a great time to be moving house! x x x Josie

Hi Jenny
I found every one of my chemo sessions left me feeling differently! I couldn't guess how my body would react each time....
I still worked all the way through but because I wasn't sure how I was going to be, I had a week of each time. There is no harm in having a few extra days if you feel good and if you don't, at least you've got those days to feel better again.
Good luck with the rest of your treatment

Hi all, As in my above reply, I thought I was doing much better but oh so tired. I just have to look at a job and feel tired. Jenny and Josie, being on the same potion, do you two have bad sinus issues. I blow blood clots out of my nose (yes grose) all day every day. And the headaches are such a pain. My head even aches when I am lying down tender to touch. Is this the same with you two? As soon as the nurses start the Cyclophosphamide drip I feel the sinus starting. Would be interested to know if I am a freak or others have the same. XLeoniePS I feel so tired that I have begged my husband to come with me for my last chemo on Thursday.
