ginko biloba

  • Hello,

I have been asked to trial ginko with my chemo treatment to see if it helps with memory issues, but they can not promise that it will not interfere with my treatment.  I am all in favour of trials but maybe this is too great to risk when it comes to lifesaving treatments?    Julia

  • Thanks Sam,

Yes, I am leaning towards not doing it I think.

  • thanks, yes I have heard good things generally about it but what I can't get past is that they can't say for sure that it won't cause problems with the chemo drugs.

    thanks

  •  hi julia, i say look up info on ginko online.

it is an interesting tree, with moss like shaped leaves and an old tree in evolutionary terms i think.

    go for it!

i have some ongoing cognitive issues since chemotherapy many years ago, and induced chemical menopause at 42. i am now 55. i would not mind trying it myself....

sounds ok to me..what do you think??

you could try it for a while, then stop if it disagrees with you.

    good luck.

    kathy.

  • hmmmmmm yes tough decision Julia, hmmmm..... my opinion is maybe not to risk it~! I'm all for trials too and I'm very interested in them but yes maybe not worth the risk in this case. There are other ways to improve your chemo brain and memory, if u are worried about that. But I'd prefer to have chemo brain than to risk it, but thats just my opinion... Hope it all works out!
