Full hysterectomy
Well ladies what a fright I had today. I have been having gynaecolgy promblems. Had ultrasound, they weren't happy with the growth on my uterus so I had a hysteroscope and a D&C. Had to get my results today. My normal doctor was not at the hospital so I saw someone different. The doctor says to me I am sorry to tell you this but you tested positive. My heart drop so fast and I almost burst out crying. In shock I repeated I am positive. She then says yes to the BRCA2 gene to genetic breast cancer. I replied I already know this I am here to get my results from the hysteroscope.
So it is all good, It is benign but the doctor explain that with these problems and tamoxifen increasing the risk of cancer of uterus plus I have this BRCA2 gene, they are not prepared to take chances with it and I have to have a full hysterectomy. Well I wanted my ovaries remove after finding out about my genes except now I have to have everything remove ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus and cervix. The one great thing is no more pap smears.
So have any of you had a hysterectomy and how long did it take for you to recover.
Any advice will be great.
