Well went and had my mammogram etc and have had a peek at the films (also tried to see if the staff's faces gave anything away!) Definitely no sign of DCIS in the other breast but I honestly would have no idea about whether there was anything else to worry about. I still cannot see where the tumor was on last year's mammogram only the DCIS was clear to me. So will just have to wait until I see the surgeon next Wednesday. One thing did concern me, they kept me waiting for a while after the ultrasound and said they had to ring a doctor off premises. Hopefully this was just because he/she had slipped out for a coffee and was not around to give the all clear that everything was visible on the films! They did an ultrasound on the mastectomy side too which was reassuring from a thoroughness point of view. Now to keep myself busy till next Wednesday! :) Deanne xxx

Well done on getting this stage over. Liked your flushes post. So hot here I never know if I am having a flush or am just too hot! Mind you I don't think I get them as severe as others. Great Deanne...mammo and ultrasound done! Your best sleep will be after next Wed though - that horrible waiting game continues hey? I have mine booked for 24 June....trying not to worry about it but I think that could be difficult as the time gets closer! Will have to adopt some of your positive mindfulness techniques! Question......do they do mammo AND ultrasound on the good boob? When they do ultrasound on the mastectomy side, do they check the whole area including lymph nodes under the arm too? Yes they did mammogram and ultrasound on the 'good' boob and also checked lymph nodes on both sides. The person doing the ultrasound did say that not everywhere does the ultrasound on the mastectomy side, so you might want to check about that. I was happy to have that extra check because of course there is always a little breast tissue still there even after a mastectomy. I feel better just having had the scans and now am determined to have a great weekend. Apparently my husband has a surprise planned for me tomorrow, so this is a great distraction. Take care. Best wishes for next Wednesday, I am due for my first mammogram and ultrasound since treatment mid July. I tend to look at the faces trying to detect anything, some have really good poker faces:) All the best, you have done all the right things and I'm sure everything willl be fine, take care,

I'm so glad you got the all clear. I will be very relieved after I hopefully get the same this week! I think there is just something in my head that says be prepared in case, like if I have faced the situation in my head I will cope if there is any bad news. It is so hard to regain that carefree positiveness I had in my health before! But I am keeping busy and even sleeping ok so it's not too bad really. Thanks for your good wishes. Take care. Deanne xxx

Hi Deanne,

I have my fingers crossed for you that the results will be all clear. I had a mammogram and ultrasound on 3rd June and got my results on 13th June and thankfully, after a lot of anxiety and worry, they were all clear. It was such a relief as the waiting is horrible. I will be thinking of you.

I know my bone scan looked bad too! As I said the only thing I could identify on last years scan was the calcification (DCIS) area. Even when the surgeon pointed out the tumor I could not really pick it. I figure nothing I do in the next few days will change anything so I'll just try to enjoy them. Looking forward to a break from medical appointments after this lot! Take care. Deanne xxx

Glad you don't get the hot flushes too bad. Interestingly writing about it yesterday helped me to realize and recognize the responses my body makes at the very beginning of a flush. Last night every time I felt one coming, I went straight into deep breathing. There was only one that I actually had to remove any clothing for! Hot weather is harder to manage I think, but I have always coped better with heat than cold! Take care. Deanne xxx

I felt calmer on the day than I did leading up to it! It was kind of 'oh well what will be, will be'. I think it helps at times like these to feel that you have given it your best shot. If anything shows up I won't think 'if only'! Now to get the most out of the next few days. Today I'm tackling the filing and archiving in our office, ahh! Take care. Deanne xxx
