My surgeon preferred to wait for my mastectomy to settle before doing anything which suited me fine. I decided not to do anything more. He’d have been pleased to do a reconstruction any time in the last ten years but has never, ever tried to talk me into it. I’d be suspicious of any surgeon who did. Some surgeons may just feel impelled to let patients know what’s possible but pushing the case isn’t on.
