First AC Chemo

Tuesday morning was my first ac  chemo. I was absolutely so scared that as soon as that gross red shit was going in tears were rolling down my face and I just couldn't stop. My nurse was wonderful as they all are.
One hour before the chemo they had me take and emand capsule. The pre meds were steroids and something called aloxi.
My oncologist have me steroids to take home 4mg tablets. This is how she said to take them. Wednesday morning one tablet. Thursday morning one tablet. Friday morning half  a tablet. Saturday morning half a  tablet. Anyone else taken them this way?. She said patients find this better as it doesn't disturb sleep so much.
Yesterday was day one after chemo. I stayed in bed all day feeling heavy all over and exhausted. No nausea so far touch wood so haven't yet needed anti nausea meds. Not sure what today will bring. Just feeling scared like i'm waiting for something bad to happen. If I've had no nausea so far is this a good sign or is delayed nausea still possible.

  • Sparkles, thank  you. It can feel such a lonely process but I'm so thankful for all the good people here. Great you have finished chemo. It can't come soon enough. I still have surgery and rads to go.
  • @LMK74 Cate is right - the anticipation could be worse than the actual. I had different drugs to you, and everyone reacts so differently, and every 'after' was different. I also had a different steroid regime. As I recover from my final DC chemo treatment (I had 4) I am glad I am not going to have any more, but I know it was a necessary evil.
I hope you sail through your treatments and know that there are lots of people here to support you! Hugs to you XO
  • Cate64, thank  you. I've already done my 12 taxol treatments so half way with chemo. My hair is mostly gone from that and I agree that hair loss has positives for sure. My appetite is non existent so struggling to get down food plus the gross taste of everything. Feeling very teary and emotional but get that's normal.

  • @LMK74 dont feel scared my lovely.
I had 6 rounds of AC Chemo & suffered very little from it, I went to Chemo in the morning & from there into the Office for the afternoon. Around day 4 or 5 I felt tired which lucky for me, as my Chemo was always a Tuesday, it fell on a Sat or Sun so I just rested that day.To this day the anti nausea tablets they gave me remain unopened, as I suffered non, I to was given steroids to take home, 2 tablets which breakfast for the first 2 days.
I expected Chemo to be as you see on TV, me hugging the toilet bowl & being stuck in bed. NOPE, it was nothing like that. Yes, I lost my hair but even that had a silver lining, no leg waxing, no shaving armpits, no bikini waxing & no washing & styling hair each day just get up, shower, makeup, put hair on, 10 minutes instead of 40...
I kept parkrunning each Saturday except for the first Sat after chemo, I still went along but volunteered that day.
Everyone reacts differently my love so dont think the worst, I sailed thru it, lots do...
