Femara
I have just been reading an article on Wikepedia about the drug Stilbestrol which was given to pregnant women in 60's & 70's who were in danger of miscarriage - I was given it in 1969. It seems it has been found to increase the risk of breast cancer for us! even more so if you have had HRT at any stage. At least I didn't have that but have now had bc twice (thank goodness we only have two of them I think that should be the lot).
My first was 11 years ago and the surgery, chemo (God that stuff is awful), radio and Herceptin treatment almost seems like a breeze now - at least it was over in just under 2 years. This time it is different and estrogen receptive and I have been put on Femara after the surgery (my hasn't that changed in the 10 years gap), & radio. This stuff is the worse! My knee & back pain drives me mad & my moods - grumpy and teary at the drop of a hat are driving me and my husband nuts! He has ptsd & therefore his own mood swings & I don't know if we will last another 4 years at this rate. See Onc next week so hope to get onto something else - or maybe just give it all away and take my chances. Well that's my whinge for the day!
