Excited a new GP
I made an appointment next week with a new GP and am excited about the prospect.
When I first saw the other one, I had only just moved into the area and it was my first appointment and the news was breast cancer straight off. I didn't realise this practice doesn't bulk bill and I have no insurance so its been a bit of a financial drain paying $72 for a visit. Add to that the receptionist had no printer working a couple times so they did bulk bill it because they couldn't furnish a receipt. The last receipt we got was so feint the date couldn't be read on it as she hadn't yet figured out how to put a new printer cartridge in and Medicare now wants a pdf of it to claim, its just too hard. I cancelled the previous follow up appointment for the day of chemo for obvious reasons, then my hubby who saw him got chipped I didn't turn up for my appointment. Why the receptionist didn't actually "write" cancelled is beyond me but I am done messing about with them.
Hubby and I cannot claim unemployment benefits as the old house hasn't sold yet and with two assets we must be considered rich by Centrelink who cannot seem to make the distinction that the bank owns over 80% of them both, so we are in financial limbo atm. We did have some stock market shares but they have dropped so low I think it would be a mistake to sell them unless we need some money to live on. Miracles can happen and they might go back up to somewhere remotely closer to what we paid for them last year surely? Yep 2015 can truthfully be known by us as the absolute worst year in our lives. I got breast cancer and even the car broke and cost us $5,000 to fix.
This new doctor bulk bills. It even has a nice photo of him, his medical specialities and a little about his family life. It looks like a very open and friendly place for me to entrust my health with hopefully for many years to come. Did I mention its in the exact same street as my chemo building? That's got to be a good omen. Onwards and upwards 2016!
