Emotional Weekend

Hi Ladies,

Wow, what a weekend. Went & did Women on the Field 2014 at the MCG on Saturday & it was a fantastic turnout. It was so good to see so many supporters there but very sad that there is that many women & people affected by this horrible disease. It was such an emotional couple of hours but so happy that there are now so many survivors of Breast Cancer but it has made me realise that I haven't really come to terms with what I've been thru and over come.  Does anyone know how many people we got in the end? It bought tears to my eyes with the singing and the speakers. Thank you to everyone who supported the day.

The MDC2014 was also a great day. I walked it in Geelong & what a pretty place. The turn out was amazing,

I hope everyone had a great weekend & Mother's Day

Will talk soon

  • Hi Sharon,

Yes it was the most amazing thing to be a part of. My son had on a blue poncho so he stood out a little in the massive sea of pink! LOL!!! My hubby could not be there but my three kids and I had a wonderful night from start to finish!

  • Hi Donna,

WOW!!! You were standing exactly where we were!!! What a shame I did not recognise you hun. I was the one holding up the sign 'Thanks For Making Me A Fighter!!!'

My three kids were with me. My son had on a blue poncho and my two girls and I were in the pink ones.

We stayed on in Melbourne until the next day and even checked out the 'Old Melbourne Gaol' where I was picked out to be a prisoner on the tour! LOL!

It was such a memorable night wasn't it Donna?

  • I too was standing in Berthas skirt. If you where in the stands and looking at her we were on the left hand side.

Who knows we may have been standing right next to each other. its was such an emotion charged event and I agree the organisation of it must have been massive. I was with my husband and some ladies from the Eastern Suburbs and Bayside Group and a childhood friend how has secondary cancer along.

  • Hi Stacey and Donna,

My three kids and I went to the FOW 2014 too! It was so exciting wasn't it?

Such a wonderful and truly inspiring night for all! I wish everyone who wanted to be there but couldn't be due to treatment or finances, are able to go at least once in their lives in the future. On the day before the event the website showed that about 12500 tickets had been sold at that time, maybe more, but I am sure there were many more there than that on the night. I would not have missed this for anything in the world. The logistics of this event were wonderful to witness. I can only imagine the stress something like this would cause the organisers. but I am sure they can be proud of themselves plus the volunteers for there amazing efforts!!! My kids and I were standing on the lower left hand side of the pink lady's skirt hem. Where were you?

Well done girls for sharing this experience with me and thank you for your support of such a great cause.

    Take care XXX Mia XXX
