ELEVATING CA15 AND CEA ADVICE PLEASE

HI    I am 7 months out of a Her2 ER positive Bc diagnosis. I opted for a Lumpectomy only no lymph node removal or chemo rad or herceptin. Just on Monday my surgeon at my 6 monthly visit told me the numbers appeared to be in my court and he felt comfortable about my decisions. I was so happy and relieved . I feel great running daily etc however CA15 and CEA is 230 and 6.9 and has risen to these levels in 8 weeks. Tomorrow I have more radioactive material poured into me for a bone scan and Full Ct scan which I do not want to have again. I had a clear pet scan 3 months ago.  Can anyone tell me what I should be concerned about and perhaps someone may have had the same experience. My mother in law told me today when your times up it is up however I am not very old so I hope its not up....  The look the doctor gave me when he read out the blood results today said it all.   Guess I am doomed then. Advice would be much appreciated . Thank you in advance.

  • Hope the scan goes well and it all turns out to be nothing to worry about. But even if it doesn't, that does not mean your time is up. (Agree...like to slap the MIL) There is much that can be done to slow the progression. Cancer unfortunately doesn't make us feel unwell, that's why it can remain hidden. But that also means with halting disease progression you can have wonderful life quality...and that can be many many years. Let us know how the scan goes. Kath x
  • Hi @Sam09 just wanted to jump in here and say be sure to ask as many questions as you need to to your medical team and tell them about your concerns especially when you enjoy your running. Did your doctor explain your blood results to you?
  • Hi Sam, Sorry I can't assist with your levels and indications as I have no experience with them . I do however want to give your mother in law a very good slap!!! - and then wash her mouth out with the nastiest soap I can find!!!!  As for your doctors look it could have been one of concern and acknowledgement of all that you have already been through and now he is asking you to have more tests. Try and stay calm and not jump the gun - it could be you are fighting an infection and that is raising your levels. Wishing you peace and calm and good results. Let us know how you get on. Xx Cath
