Elevated ALP levels

Saw my GP today, my ALP (liver) level is 204.  Two months ago it was 161.  Normal levels is under 115.

Can’t help it but I’ve been on Dr Google.  I see the oncologist Monday week.  Would you say this is a fairly significant jump?

Im on zoladex and exemastane (even though I’ve been off the exemastane for the last three weeks due to side effects).  I’m 42 - completed active treatment in April this year.

Oncologist didn’t even mention my ALP was 161 two months ago.  Only found out from the GP.  Should I push for scans if Oncologist says it’s nothing to be concerned about?

thanks

  • If you've had recent weight loss your liver enzymes can go up quite a bit whilst your body is dealing with getting rid of it.
  • My liver levels went thru the roof on a particular anti inflammatory (Vioxx) so I know never to take that one! .... So maybe double check what you are taking for the side effects & make sure your GP/Onc knows everything that you take, even 'natural' products - as they can all interact differently when taken with other drugs.

All the best .... I hope the levels go down again.
  • Hi Chev, my ALP liver enzyme went up abit when I was on Tamoxifen- although not as much as yours. My GP sent me for an abdo/liver ultrasound and it turns out I have a fatty liver. After stopping Tamoxifen, the enzyme went down.Your level is pretty high so I’d be asking for an abdominal ultrasound.Don’t panic as it could be from the drugs or chemo- your poor liver has to filter all that crap. But get it checked out.
