I actually wear an earplug in one ear at night (a soft 'industrial' one, below) that somehow cuts the loudness of the tinnitus right down .... so that I can go to sleep without both canaries singing & disrupting my sleep ...
I Squish one into a narrow tube, then ram it right into the ear & it will then expand to the shape of your inner ear and totally block the ear hole.
You can still hear sufficiently with the other ear, eg loud noises or people calling out (if you are caring for someone) ... so have no fear that you won't hear them (or the fire alarm!)
