Diep op coming up in October

I would love to chat any one who can give me a first hand account on this surgery. I'm booked in on the 5th October, with Dr Hamish Farrow at the Epworth hospital in Melbourne. I'm having a BiLateral mastectomy using the Diep procedure. Feeling very nervous, scared, and the list goes on. I have full faith in my Doctor I clicked with him straight away. Would love any feedback. Thanks Sallie

  • Hi Kat, I had Dr Moradi at Westmead in April. And due for revision with him in October. I only met him the morning of the op which seemed a bit rushed. Dr Lam before that. He was great though. He actually described my op as "emotional" for them, which was kinda nice to hear in a way. It was 14 hrs and they had a few blood supply issues apparently. I thanked him for persisting. I understand you feeling nervous....but you will be ok and it will all be over and you'll be back on your feet in no time. I hope we get all the gory details on the private site, XXXlouie

  • Hi Sallie and Julia My surgeon has actually said the same thing to me in regards to whether he can do a double Diep, or one Diep one tram. He will check my ct angio scans on the day to determine. I'm having my surgery next Friday 30 August at Westmead public, by Dr Moradi (under Dr Lam). Am starting to quietly s**t myself!! Have also been told that if I can't shake the cold I currently have, they won't go ahead with the surgery. So an added stress.. Will let you know how I go Sallie.. Kat xx

  • Hi Sallie, There's a group on this network called "Breast Reconstruction". It has posts from women who who been through reconstruction and they have posted picture diaries. They are amazing and give me a lot more confidence in my DIEP op that's due 10th Sept at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne. My PS did say to me that the planned DIEP may turn into a TRAM if my blood supply wasn't adequate for the DIEP and this was to be determined on the day. I will be posting to the group my progress as well. Good luck with yours and keep us posted. Lots love love Janey xxx
