well-its tricky as each situation is different --but i had a small growth which was taken out with clear margins and a very small growth in a lymph node..I was told that the common thing is to have chemotherapy and then radiation. The chemotherapy really threw me for a six but in the next week i adjusted to it somewhat; however than my oncologist said he wouldnt recommend this and instead recommended radiation and medication. I was wondering what my reaction would be if a group of oncologists recommended chemo and my oncologist didnt--but a lot of my anxiety just vaporised and i thought ' i can do this' this feels right. however it does feel like i might be in the minority here
and of course im really in the middle of it of myself
a book i got from the llibrary about choices in breast cancer treatment is very up to date and echoed some the comments from my oncologist, as did the breast care nurse that i only spoke to once on the 'phone said that she endorsed the view that chemotherapy is overused etc
i really dont like medical intervention -ie needles etc and losing hair etc; but im glad i didnt make the decision based on fear and i went into the oncologist appt with an open mind and really feeling like chemotherapy was the standard treatment
best wishes
- LanaMemberHi Cheryle I had mastitis and noticed my boobs were lumper than usual. Dr sent me for a mammogram and then a biopsy. I see the dr at the hospital on Monday to figure out the extent of the cancer. Feeling a little better today.
- LanaMemberHi Mona I wish you well with your treatment too. What is your treatment going to be.? I meet with dr on Monday to talk about my next step. Than you for your advice.

Hi Lana,
I'm really sorry to hear of your diagnosis - but welcome to BCNA's Online Network where you can read others experiences, share and vent!
As you're learning more about BCNA's Online Network just give a yell if you have any questions or if we can help at all.

Hey Lana
I also welcome you pink sister and agree with you that it is such a huge shock when you are given the diagnosis of BC. We all deal with it totally differently. Some go in to total denial (during the time they can) others just want to share it and learn all they can. Others deal with it in other ways.
I am so glad you have decided to join us here as we will be here for you with any questions you have, I agree with Adean that the My Journey Kit is so helpful and I still use mine now and I am nearing nearly 2 years since my diagnosis.
We are here for you.
Lots of love,Mich xoxoxoxoxox
- CherylekMemberHi Lana, so sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with BC. Is it something you found yourself or did it come up in a mammogram? Cheryle :)
