Dexamethasone is a steroid and commonly used for inflammatory chest infections, brain swellings with tumors or after trauma. It's newer off label use is with chemo, I guess as it's a poison and our bodies inflammatory response to it is what gives us the issues. I had a reaction to taxol and had to have huge doses prior to chemo so I didn't stop breathing.
So dex as well as prednisolone (also used similarly) would be expected treatment. It certainly doesn't cure it. Hopefully wonder drug just round the corner. Or an effective vaccine.
