Dexamethasone side effects

Oh!@LMK74 It's a small world isn't it? My breast surgeon who referred me to Po said she was so good, if he had to, he would refer his mother to her! That was a good enough recommendation for me! Yes, she is lovely. Take care.

@duxx1234,my oncologist is also Po Inglis. I'm public at the rbwh. She is lovely.

That's great to hear! @Mollygirl. My breast surgeon Dr Ben Green referred me to Po. I feel very fortunate to have such a great team looking after me.  My breast care nurse is also wonderful, so I feel very blessed.  Just want next Wednesday to come now so that I can get this 'show' on the road and hopefully a good prognosis and recovery. x

Oh yes, @duxx1234, they are!! Dr Colosimo is AMAZING. I was so lucky (weird word to use right given the circumstances ) to get her as my onc. She is very measured in the amount of info I got at a time so I didn't get to overwhelmed with it. She also kept the mood in the breast care clinic very upbeat which was lovely. I am very sure Dr Ingkis will be wonderful and that they share the same level of commitment and compassion. The support at their rooms is great too - anytime I phoned everything was really promptly sorted. Xxoo

My Oncologist is Dr Po Inglis at HSN; I think Dr Colosimo is at the same rooms? Only been for one visit so far!  

I was on Dexamethasone 5 years ago for nausea, when having radiation treatment on my bones. I was told to take it twice a day . I had to take the second dose by mid day or if I left it any later in the day , it would keep you wide awake at night. 

I had my chemo all at Mater Cancer Care Centre. Are you under Dr Colosimo by any chance? 
I work at Mater Private too so for me it was good to be where I was familiar. 

Thanks @Mollygirl, I will have a good chat to my oncologist on Wednesday before I start my treatment and I will be guided by what she recommends! I have got a wonderful breast care nurse at HSN and I'm sure she will be very knowledgeable about these things too! Where did you have your treatment? I see you are in Bris also.

Hi @duxx1234, my onc prescribed just as yours is. Dex is a steroid and will help prevent reactions to your chemo and help with nausea. It's like 'pumped up' Prednisone. I found it just made me feel a little wide eyed, energy twitchy but you'll find your body does get used to it as well. Have you got a breast care nurse? She might be able to give you some literature to read. I found being able to wholly trust in my oncologist really helped. I found her wonderful and she never overwhelmed me with too much info. I got a very measured amount which is great as it's all so overwhelming. Xxoo
