My dentist is a private clinic and he bulk bills so no money was needed. I don't have health insurance or a health card so any help at all is much appreciated. I didn't have to have chemo which was really good but i do have to pay the $34.20 per month for the Arimidex. I have had fantastic care in the public system and I can't praise the nurses enough. They all deserve medals for the wonderful care and attention they give their patients

Tamoxifen . N..SW is  $67.55 and I am on Zolazex injections which are $336.00a mth . I am on a health card and only pay $5.60 for each.   I really do not know how I would be able to afford it each mth and on top the out of pocket Drs bills, if I did not have a health card. It is so wrong that cancer medication is so expensive. Debbie

 I live in Newcastle N.S.W and I have my first appointment next week for free dental work. It is $4250.00 worth of treatment every 2 years. You have to ask your GP for the forms and take them to the Dentist. I am having my dental work done at a private dental surgery . Ring around and ask your Dental practice if they are invoved in this. I am lucky my Dentist just will bulk bill everything to Medicare, but some Dentist's make you pay up front and then you claim yourself from Medicare. Debbie

My job is at the Adult Community Dental Clinic which of course is for eligible card holders to access.  From a personal point of view I always make sure that anyone on treatment or about to commence treatment is seen by a dentist pronto.  As for private dentists giving the same courtesy to cancer patients I do not know.  I know the importance of good dental hygiene especially when on chemo.  Fortunatley I really look after my teeth and had just been for a 6 monthly check-up prior to my diagnosis.  My teeth were all fine.  I have just received a letter to return for my next 6 monthly check and boy are they going to get a surprise when I walk in for my appointment (once chemo is finished) without hair, eyelashes etc.  I will ask the question though as I'm sure chemo has done some damage to my teeth.  Thanks for the info and if you can add anymore I would be most appreciative.  XLeonie

you should move to Qld!!! lol. I am in Brisbane. Gayle from the Moreton Bay Breast Cancer told us about the free dental care. I don't know if it is all Australia or not. Ring your state Cancer Foundation. I am on Arimidex (old people's Tamoxifan) and it is $34.20 a month. I think your'ssounds a bit expensive. Again check with your state authorities. I have found you get nothing if you don't ask. So ask!

 hi was reading your blog and noticed free dental what state is that in , im in victoria, in the country,  have gone through chemo and radation , its amazing to how it effects all parts of youre body ,  l never new you could get free dental, what about youre medication  l pay 65 for tamoxifin out here dont know if you can get scripts cheaper? thanks  regard robsue
