I went to Dr's today he said "There is no defective gene found!" I was so relieved and then he called me back in after I had left and told me,
SORRY he'd read the letter incorrectly they hadn't found a gene as no test had been done because they didn't have the paperwork signed to go ahead with the testing and I should have cancer councilling and sign if I WANT IT DONE!!!!!!
Back to square one girls!!!!!!!

It shocked me to find out there was still a 10% chance after removal I thought it would be 2%!! OR LESS.
YES I'M ALL GOOD, HAD A GREAT SLEEP!
maybe the red wine helped!

I'm glad for you that hey have the results back so quickly for you! Thinking in terms of a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy, once they remove "all" the breast tissue, there is a less than 10% chance of BC occurring. When I say "all" it is becuse they cannot be 100% sure they have got all the tissue, hence to other percentage. BUT results on this type of surgery speak for themselves. I sent an email to my surgeon yesterday after replying to you, asking generally about her experiences with reoccurence after a bilateral in non-cancerous tissue and she was very positive! She has only had two patients in her 30 years of practising that have come back with secondaries and she feels that is because they were older patients who had the initial mastectomies over 20 years ago, before they knew to remove the tissue that extends to the armpit. She, in her own experiences, has never had a patient return a postive cancer screen after the prophylactic mastectomy. She also said that if there is no cancer cells present at the time of the mastecomy there is no reason to believe that cancer resulting for breast tissue will appear elsewhere in the body. Saying that, it is a big step and one that is going to involve a lot of discussions for you, and your family, with a well qualified and experienced surgeon. It is something that is very invasive and quite traumatic on the person, physically as well as mentally. On the plus side - no more mammograms....that's got to be a relief... :O) I would say that even though this is the info that my surgeon gave me, I would urge you to find a surgeon you can trust, make a list of questions and work through them. Read as much as you can, there are so many sources of information dealing with BC on the internet these days and use as many resources as you can to find the answers you need.
Until you get the results, take a breath, relax with a glass (or 2 or 3) of that red wine and enjoy time with your beautiful boys and husband. Make sure they help you around the house so it helps with your stress levels, and yelling to relieve stress/tension is not a bad thing. Your family loves you and will understand that Mummy is having a hard time. Don't let other people's judgements hurt you. Easy said, I know I trouble doing that with my MIL, she puts the fear of god in me!! But remember to take time out for yourself, if the in-laws are getting to be too much, have a deep smell of those gorgeous flowers your friends sent, go have a lay down, take a walk or do whatever you enjoy to relax.
Thinking of you and I hope the weekend flies by for you... Ree xxx

I'm surprosed the results are back so soon, but I still have the weekend to wait!
Dr doesn't work Sat.
I think I need to stop yelling now and go to bed!
I'm exhausted.
I don't think I can go along with the thought of yearly checks and still not 100% sure if it's going to come get me.
I think the safest option is removal of breast tissue so it has nowhere to go??
Or can breast cancer cells attach to any tissue/cell in the body??
I have no idea.

You just yell as much as you want to ... if that what it takes to relieve the stress, then you just go right ahead.
What ever the result, you will feel relief after seeing the Doc on Sunday ... you will have answers and that's important.
Keep us posted with your results and plans .... we are all here for you.
Stay strong ..... Cheers - Shirl xx

Thanks for trying to make me feel better, but can't do that. Fear of judgement I suppose?? Who knows, weakness she can't cope attitude.
So I yell a little, maybe a lot until all the boys around me pick up their stuff and put things where they are suppose to go!
Husbands on vac duty tomorrow!
I just got phone cxall my results are in and I have to meet with the Dr Sunday!

Totally agree with you, Shirl! If people come to visit and know your situation, let them fix it for you, a little help is one thing I have learnt to accept - okay, so my hubby and griends had to nearly crack my head open to get me to see sense :OP but it helps take off your stress levels and is a great help. I have no doubt that at some point in the past, your in-laws have found themselves in a similair situation of needing help with something - the housework, the children, their sanity LOL
Heidi, you are going through a really hard time right now, grieving, waiting for those damn test results (which IMO, take a few trips through a time/space continuum just to delay the waiting that bit longer hahaha) and nurturing 3 little boys. Be kind to Heidi, cut yourself a break, sit down with a cuppa then have a nice nap on the couch in front of the TV - curled up with your little ones, even. Trust me, Iggle Piggle has a great soothing tune for going into sleepyland :O)

Yes I had been past and through there but didn't stop and read it all as I have headaches and ear aches at the moment and really struggling with the comnputer, everytime I sit at it I feel like I need to go to bed and sleep, I just feel tired in front of screen!
I will find sometime maybe at 4am to have some quiet time and search more.
Your comment you can't break anything! made me laugh!!!!! Thanks
Thanks Di
