  • @Hendrix Ok...so your question in terms of scans to check all is well, the answer is NO. You won't have scans until your yearly checkup. You will however have 3 monthly checkups between your Surgeon and Oncologist. Im 20 months post chemo and just now stretching to 6 monthly Oncologist visits uuugh! Unless you feel something isn't right or a symptom that's not been there before they wont do anything. So you will just plod along in your recovery once finished :) x
  • Hi @Hendrix, I had chemo & radio & have appointments 3 monthly (surgeon then radiation oncologist  then oncologist) for the next 3 years then go to 6 monthly for 4th & 5th years.  No scans unless new symptoms arise. Just yearly mammogram & ultrasound & bone density.
  • Hi Hendrix I did not have chemo only radio and no scans after that.Had a bone density and blood test for Vit D levels before starting hormone therapy.Next appointment is with Surgeon in November other than that just GP for 6 monthly Prolia injection to prevent bone fractures from hormone therapy .Seems to go a bit quiet after radio which I found a bit frightening then was time for me to look outwards for support eg here , local groups and courses. Have started a gentle exercise class too to help with joint pain. Basically scarily initially but back to life as not focussed daily on undergoing treatment. Oops forgot think the Breast surgeon organises scans/ tests as Breast Screen won't until 5 years of remission are up.
  • Haven't had radiation but after chemo and still on Herceptin and Femara I went to 6 monthly checks with my oncologist and my surgeon - so I saw one of them every 3 months. Now (nearly 5 years) I only see them each yearly and I suspect that may reduce/end but only if all goes well in October (fingers crossed!). I can also see either if I feel I need to - three times with my surgeon, partly due to an intractable seroma, but never with my oncologist.
