  • Hi Cheryl and welcome to the online network -- glad you found your way here.  If you want some more information about how this site works you can find it on the Help page and also on the Q&A page (click on those links, or you can find them on any network page, just scroll up to the top and you'll see the links just under the main navigation bar).

To read what others are posting go to the All posts page.  The come up in order of newest at the top.

Hope that helps. Sometimes it's a bit tricky learning a new site so don't worry about asking if you have any questions, there's always someone who's happy to answer. :)

  • Hi guys

The MUGA test is for how well your heart works.  It checks how much volume of blood your heart is pumping out.  They will check you regularly during Herceptin because it affects your heart.  They give you a first injection and then a few minutes later a second before they put you under the camera for about ten minutes.  Then through some voodoo they work out what your ejection fraction is.  I think it has to be more than 50% for them to let you carry on with Herceptin.  I think an alternative is an echocardiogram, which is less invasive because it's just ultrasound and cheaper.

    All the best,

    Helen.

  • yep, tests, tests, more tests... But what's a MUGA test? haven't heard of that one.  (No doubt others have, tho.)

keep posting, let us know how you get on -- no q. is too weird here!

    go well,
    Heather
