Chemo

You are just ahead of me. They have allowed me to enjoy Christmas before chemo thank goodness.

It's a really scary time in the beginning and everything you're feeling is totally normal. I have finished chemo and now into the radiotherapy part of my journey. The actual chemo treatment days are not that bad and the people are always lovely and supportive. Everyones after effects are a bit different but just about always days 5-10 are the worst. You will be really tired so try to make sure you have someone with you that can help you out at this time.

I can't stress enough how important it is to drink as much water as you can and take in fluids, watery foods like watermelon, cucumber etc will help also, to help flush the chemo drugs out of your system quicker (drugs are only active while being administered and a few hours after) so get rid of it asap and your side effects might not be so bad. Plus it will help your kidneys and liver stay healthier.

All my hair fell out around day 14 of first chemo but I am now around 9 weeks post last treatment and have about 1cm hair back already and my eyelashes and brows are just starting to grow back, yay.

Good luck girl, stay strong and know it is only temporary. It's ok to be scared though and you will go through so many emotions in the coming months. Stay on here and ask as many questions as you need, there is always someone here to help, you're not on your own!

Huge love Loz chemo is so scarey I remember that still doing it like you I had so much surgery the last was mastectomy more to go chemo is weird I don't know which type you are having rest assured the actual day of chemo isn't that bad to be honest it's afterwards they will pump through steroids take anti nausea if it's red devil AC I kept a diary so I knew how I felt I've done cripeys  5 months of chemo 6 weeks to go we are here for you I still hate chemo but I've got use to it have a wine calm whatever it takes be yourself it's going to mess with your head it does but keep posting I've got some lovely friends whom I met here we call we txt we cry we go mental but we live xxx much love

Hi Loz81, I started my AC chemo last week... yes it is scary and the effects are different with everyone.  I feel fine except for feeling a little tired than normal...

I know exactly how you are feeling, I was diagnosed in May and I had 3 surgeries a lumpectomy and sentinal node removal then an auxillary node clearance and a port inserted for chemo, I was very scared also of chemo but I think it's the fear of the unknown, I have been very lucky with the side effects and the nurses and doctors, you will be fine it will be a long road but we are all here for you unfortunatly we have all been brought together through this horrible disease, the best thing I did was cut my hair short as it's a little less confronting and after about 8 days my husband shaved it off for me, we are all here for you remember you are never alone and we are women here us ROAR LOL my thoughts are with you today.
