Cant wait. I'm finally getting this treatment started. Its been 7 weeks since my original surgery of wide local excision and sentinel node biopsy. I dodge a double mastectomy twice waiting for the two biopsy's done on my neck swelling. I swear if i hear one more specialist say its so unusual to have breast cancer in the gland/s in my neck I'll throttle one of them. I have a feeling the swelling from that gland has extended so I need this treatment to start yesterday. I've put out a public shout out on my facebook page and blog on guidelines (aka rules) on visiting me AND my family and friends who are my support group. Some people may take offence, but then if they do they aren't in my corner. Made a big pot of chicken soup to freeze, eaten chocolate incase it tastes yuk after the treatment starts, and had big sloppy wet kisses from my gorgeous 5 month old Lilly. Nothing like baby drool running down your cheek to make you feel like a certified Nonna. Hope you guys had an awesome Easter.

Hi Donna good for you putting your rules out on fb. It's a shame that you have to but sometimes people just don't think so I think that's a great idea. Nonnahood, or as in my case nannahood, is so good for the soul. My little grandson turned 8 weeks today and although he is in another state, the photos, videos and FaceTime are so wonderful and uplifting. Good luck for chemo. Remember one day at a time, take all the meds they recommend and fingers crossed that your side effects are minimal. Take care. Karen xox

Thanks Karen. Would you believe I had a patient in the surgery I work, actually ask me if I thought she should put off her visit to her friend who was having chemo. The patient had just been there for her second visit with a severe chest infection...... Some days I swear common sense really has been bred out.

Thanks Brenda, that's so lovely of you. But I'm starting at 8.45am so hopefully home by then. Lucky I only live 5 minutes from the clinic, so I wont be too rushed in the morning. Will definitely pack hubby a couple of sandwiches for him. He'll be by my side through most of this. The joys of self employment means he can be with me as needed.

I will be in the same building at 2.30 tomorrow for my physio appointment so will be thinking of you in the other room having your chemo. A little tip, make sure your care person takes some sandwiches for themselves. Tea and coffee and biscuits seems to be free but only the chemo patient gets fed usually. Don't forget to take any pills you need to take at lunch time on the day. Take them later and you will be up half the night wide awake.

If you are doing it alone, leave a message at the outside front desk for me, Brenda Irwin, and I will pop in to see you after my physio. You should be hopefully on the home stretch by then. Take a water drinker for the trip home. You will all of a sudden feel desperately thirsty halfway home.
