Chemo is burning my skin - help!

I'm hoping someone has some advice, I can't find any ideas to help with the sunburnt feeling the skin on my face is experiencing. I expected this with radio but not chemo!

Creams don't seem to help, I've tried a natural/herbal cream, rosehip oil & Hope's Relief but nothing other than an icecold face washer is doing the trick.

Any other ideas??

TIA

  • How much water are you drinking? What I've read has told me you've got to up from that 2 liters a day to combat exactly this. (Is that right? Anyone?) Oh my gosh, I seriously hope I don't get this happening to me, it's going to be bad enough to begin with.

You poor thing, all my best vibes coming your way, I really hope this settles down and doesn't happen again!

  • Yep aloe vera gel, lots of it and cold cucumber is nice as well. Do you know why your face is burning? I found its the tiny little future to be a problem sun cancers. Chemo gets rid of them all. This time around my face is fine so far, and the backs of my hands. I think I am missing a couple of warts under my feet now as well. Can only hope they never come back.

  • Hi Lyn,

Thanks for the tip, if I don't get any relief tonight I'll definitely try the antihistamine and yes I'm on TC so maybe it's the nasty Docetaxel.

I was just making my hubby a salad for his lunch tomorrow and decided to put a slice of cold cucumber on my face... that amazingly has provided a bit of relief!!!

Icy face washers otherwise and I'll call nurses tomorrow.

Not sure how my posts are working as I'm super new, I've just hit the 'Post' link.

    Cheers,

    Tara

  • Hi Tara, I had this, too, when I started on Docetaxel. Unfortunately nothing much did help, although I did find that an antihistamine provided some relief sometimes. Give the nurse at your treatment hospital a call tomorrow & see what they suggest.

Oh, the other thing that provided some temporary relief was chilled aloe Vera gel.

    Take care, Lyn.

ps your posts are coming up on my recent activity, but not on my feed, not sure what's happening there ??
