Chemo done
Somehow I made it through my 6 cycles of TAC yesterday!! This is the last time I will feel crap like this. Sooooo happy. Few weeks off then onto 6 weeks rads. My joy jumps & happy dance will have to wait til next week when I'm feeling a little more energetic.

- UnicornkissesMember@twiggyjumps not quite the same as you.
I am having chemo before mastectomy but not radiation until after.
The Oncologist said it has the advantage of seeing how the chemo worked when the pathology comes back after surgery.
Apparently they should be able to see dead cancer cells?
And any live ones too if it hasn't worked, I am guessing.
I have already had a lumpectomy in January with no clear margins, so they know there are still cancer cells there, and one sentinel node came back positive. I am having a Lymphnode clearance as well with mastectomy, they should be able to see if any other nodes were affected in the pathology.
Regarding food, I am seeing a dietitian and have been trying to eat healthy through chemo but with the metallic taste, sore mouth and nausea they both create I am struggling to find anything that doesn't make me feel sicker after eating, or upset an already damaged digestive tract.
But what I can eat is hot chips, jelly, porridge, scrambled eggs, cheese and tomato on crackers.
If you can eat it and it gets you through the day, go for it.
Chemo is hard enough as it is.
Lite and Easy is expensive but if it helps, then great. At least it is healthy, and easy. - TwiggyjumpsMemberYes I will thank you. I'm doing neo adjuvant with rads after chemo before surgery. There are not many posts I can see about others experiences in this way so I'm getting nervous. The PS told me he wanted it this way as apart from a grade 3 in one sentinel lymph node found, he said that the diep nipple sparing mastectomies would have a better result having surgery at the end of it all? Has anyone had this experience?
- primekMemberLet the family help. You would do the same. I lived on cheese toasties. Keep an eye on that hand. If red and hot get it checked out as could be an infection.
- Molly001MemberSorry you're having a rough time @Twiggyjumps. I had trouble with food also. I just ate what I could handle. Hang in there, not long now.
- TwiggyjumpsMemberI'm having my 5th out of 6 chemo rounds next week and my vein in my hand has just started aching and bruised from the last one 16 days ago. Really not wanting another. :( Thinking of seeing if I can stay in hospital for the week after as was really unwell and had anxiety heart palpitations from the last round and feel I need the family to look after me more. They are so busy I feel I'm just a burden to them atm. Maybe if I order lite n easy for a bit that may at least help them and me out. They're doing washing & housework to help etc but I need special 'me' food with my up and down nausea situations.
- socodaMember@Unicornkisses, your week away with ocean view sounds divine (don't forget The Otis Foundation!!) Throw in a massage or two and it's definitely something the doctor should order!!! Hoping for both yourself and @Molly001that whatever dining choice you make has your tastebuds doing Tangoing on your tongues. :p Xx
- UnicornkissesMemberI haven't thought about it yet!
I would love a head, hand and foot massage, maybe I will seek one of those out.
But the first thing I want to do is go out to a restaurant and eat a tasty meal.
We are planning a week or so away after surgery while I recover, somewhere that supplies breakfast and lounges with a view to the ocean.
@Molly001 that sounds like something to look forward to, relax and enjoy the pampering. - socodaMemberOooh @Molly001, that sounds exquisite!!! Pampering of body, stomach and mind (just knowing its over!!) I hope you have energy to spare so you can truly relax and enjoy your well deserved pampering. Xx
- Molly001MemberThanks everyone. Congrats, too, @Unicornkisses I'm also looking forward to doing all those things. @socoda my sister has promised me a girly spa/pamper day followed by dinner actually out somewhere, when I'm well enough to enjoy.
- socodaMember@Molly001, Congratulations!!!!

You too @Unicornkisses !!! How are you celebrating ladies?? Xx Cath
