Chemo and surgery
so last Thursday had my last chemo. Yahoo! Not this this was without all it problems as you all know!
I was diagnosed last May with invasive ductal breast cancer, spread to lymph nodes, stage 3. It was decided I needed neo adjuvant treatment to shrink the tumour with 6 rounds of TAC. Hospitalised twice during the first four treatments due to low blood pressure, high temps, neutropenia and to top it all off, lung damage, caused by the taxotere. (Unlucky me as this is a side effect that affects only 1% of people) also discovered to have two leaky heart valves. So now under lung specialist too. After the four treatment of TAC, it was decided that I should be on AC. So much better, so much less toxic and with the steroids I am on for the lungs feel almost human again.
in four weeks I shall be undergoing my surgery and all that entails, then 5 weeks of radiation.
but basically what I wanted to go on here for is to say, for anyone just starting off, just take one day at a time, one hurdle at a time, keep active, keep positive and have A SENSE OF HUMOUR! This has definitely got me through. also I couldn't forget all the wonderful support of family and friends and to this network too.
i still have some way to go. But I know I can do it!
love to all that are going, been, fInalised this 'journey'. Xx
