Can't take a trick!

Hi ladies, well I am in the wars again. I can't seem to take a trick. I was having a lovely time at a market on Saturday but the heavens opened and down came the rain. Everyone was scampering for shelter and after getting out of the way of some children, I slipped on the side of the path and went down like a tonne of bricks. Straight onto my new left boob which knocked all the wind out of me and I had images of my boob being mangled and squashed. Luckily that didn't happen LOL. Well the pain in my chest has steadily gotten worse and last night it was fairly agonising. I was worried that I could be bleeding internally with the blood thinners I'm on, not that there was any evidence of that. So today I went to my GP to get it checked out. He suspects I may have cracked a rib or two so I needed to have X-rays. I wasn't even thinking about my ribs. He said at the very least they are badly bruised. I must have run over a dozen people in my past life! What a year! But on the bright side, I've been told to rest up and not to exert myself for a while. So I'm sitting on my verandah with a cuppa and ignoring the house work. That's got to put a smile on my face :) Have a great day today ladies. Love Janey xxx

  • Hi Deanne, Yes Christmas will be wonderful knowing chemo is all over with. Bit of a break before radiation starts May even celebrate with a glass of wine. Thanks Carolyn
  • What can I say?? Hang in there Janey, you poor girl. Even if the x-ray is negative they may still be cracked. I am speaking from experience. I fractured mine on a ride at the show last year. It was one of those whizzy things, used to be called the cha-cha back in the day. Anyway I was on it with my daughter and every time we spun around she slammed into me. The poor darling thinking she was being nice kept moving away and then another spin and slam!! When we got off I jokingly said to my husband I think I broke a rib. Well a few days later I was at the Physio for a back massage I could not lie on my front. My X-Ray came back all clear but I was in pain for a long time afterwards. Anyway 6 or 7 months later I had a bone scan as I had back pain. My surgeon looking at the bone scan said oh everything is fine except for the healing rib fractures!!!! They were in exactly that spot!! When I told him the X-Ray was normal he said they often don't show up until they start to heal. I am very close to having osteoporosis due to chemo induced early menopause, also the fractures are in the area where I had radiation so double whammy. No more show rides for me. I guess at 51 I should be growing up. I hope the picture of this old girl on a show ride gives you a chuckle as you enjoy your cup of tea on the balcony. Hugs to you. Paula xxxxx

  • Poor you, it is really annoying when we experience "normal" things as well, like colds, migraines and accidents.

Take extra special care, eh? xxMandy

  • Hi Deanne, yes I have aquired a taste for a soothing tea, it certainly narrows it down when coffee makes you hurl, its just not the same since chemo.....but i am not missing it.

  • The worst is almost over, Carolyn! You should be able to enjoy Christmas knowing no more chemo, yay! Radiotherapy really is just a bit tiring and a bit of discomfort towards the end. Nothing as bad as the endurance test of Chemo. Have a lovely Christmas! Deanne xxx
