Burning itch

Just had my 16th treatment and my skin has broken out in a rash below my breast and above it. It is so unbelievably itchy. I have tried sorbolene and Dermacream with hydrocortisone, but it is only give me minimum relief. Tonight I put a cold face washer on my skin which is helping take some of the itch out.

  • Just good old table salt will do-maybe half a cup or so.

  • I've  read there was a successful trial in the UK with Calendula cream - did anyone try this?

    Regards Anne

  • Hi Susie I'll try anything at the moment...the burning and itch kept me awake last night. I'm thankful the weekend is here and I have a little break Thanks Anne

  • Thanks Tonya I haven't tried a salt bath yet...were there any specific salts you used?
  • Hi Anne, have you tried an antihistamine like Claratyne or Zrytec? I came out in a fine rash after my second chemo, and so took claratyne. It helped, so I took it for the next 2 sessions, which prevented the rash from coming back. Love Chris xx
  • Hi Anne.  Someone suggested the following to me and I found it extremely helpful.  Buy some saline sachets from your local chemist - they are about 80cents each.  Freeze them then put them into a facewasher and place against the irritated skin which has been smothered in sorbolene cream.  I often skipped the facewasher and put the frozen sachet directly onto the sorbolene covered area. This brought really good temporary relief.  I was also told that I wasn't using enough of the sorbolene and when I really began to smother the irritated skin I found some relief. xx

  • Whatabout a soak in a warm,salt bath?That used to help me.Good luck.
