Sadly rebuilding nerves takes a long time, but it does happen. I'm four months out from surgery. I get the odd spasm, and have a lot of tight muscles which I'm still teaching to relax and stretch. I had nerve damage from shingles 20 years ago, and although the intense pain eased over 12 months, it was 10 years before I was completely pain free. However I found, and find now, that as life gets busy, and distractions come along, I am less conscious of minor irritations. And then there are those delightful days when you realise its been hours since you thought about your breasts. :)
Do make sure you discuss it with your specialists and GP though. If it's limiting your life, it's not something to put up with.
