Well, I managed to get up early and head up to the Cancer Clinic for my pre chemo blood test....as usual my veins were in hiding so they used what's becoming a standard with me....the butterfly needle in the top of my hand...don't let the name fool you...it may look like a butterfly, but it still stings like a bee!

I've always hated needles...my hands sweat etc...and although I am kind of "getting used to it' I'm kind of not! ..Bravery takes over then HOPE enters the mind praying they get it first go!

I am often told I am BRAVE....Brave enters our life, makes us strong, make us fearless.......

But brave is a strange word, Is being brave fake?
Because we are actually shit scared of whats to come, terrified of the what if's, frightened of the unknown....We HOPE it will be alright....HOPE and BRAVE go hand in hand I think.....

MANY people are BRAVE. Many people are struggling with, fighting, battling one thing or another...and despite the odds being stacked against them, they still get up and face the day...HOPE they get through it....BRAVE flows through our veins and seems to calm us...HOPE wills us.

I guess I don't really think I am brave...but then when someone says that I am, I stop and think...Well I guess I am...then I think about it more and realise.....YES I am! So thank you for that reminder! You made my day :)

You see, BRAVERY is knowing what's ahead of you, but doing it anyway.....doing what you need to get where you want to be, doing what you need to do to get over a fear....doing what you need to survive....what we need to do to WIN...

Life IS an obstacle course, with roads of twists and turns, detours, road blocks, landslides to dodge, mountains to climb and deep caverns to avoid.....but EVERY DAY, EVERY HOUR, EVERY MINUTE....HOPE is telling someone to trust that being BRAVE will make it OK.....

We ALL have HOPE and so we are ALL very BRAVE

  • Thank you, all for the words you've posted. All through my treatment, I would have friends and family comment on how brave I was. I would smile and say no, I'm not brave, just doing hat I have to to get through each day. so.... maybe I am brave, but i still don't feel it. Take care, all of you, Lyn
  • My favourite is this one,

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says "I will try again tomorrow"

  • I received a plaque during treatment along the same lines as your post.

Courage is not the absence of fear or despair. It is having the courage to conquer them.

Courage and bravery are very similar things and yes I do believe that we tend to have both in spades to get through bc, even though a lot of the time we don't feel like it. Thank you for reminding us. Karen xox
