Book those appointments early !

Been there, done that - another scanxiety day over for now - guess results won't be until late next week sometime due to the 'holidays' but I have a GP appointment booked for the 18th anyway.
Radiographer said they'd had several call-backs due to ladies having had the covid vaccination - "much worry which could have been avoided by timing things".  I said I'd heard that, hence being there before my booster.  At least I had been warned.
Their long wait for appointments is apparently due to BreastScreen having a huge backlog so using the services.

@Keeping_positive1 I rang to make the appointment this morning and the lady was having trouble getting  the two appointments together. She then said I could come in today if I wanted to! But I think it needs to be closer to the appointment with my surgeon so we made it for a week before that date. I was worrying overnight that it might be a struggle to get an appointment when I needed it. So maybe a bit of scanxiety here too. 

@Jwrenn all the best for the upcoming mammo and U/S.  It is this time of the year that the scanxiety sets in for me, I am having my mammo and U/S this coming week.  I then get the results from the breast surgeon in early February, but I will be on the phone a couple of days later, not going to wait again... sheesh public system, does my head in!

After my second vaccination it felt like my lymph nodes on the bc side were swollen and I only had one removed. That was the only side effect I had. Not due for the booster for a couple of months but due to have mammogram and ultrasound before February appointment with the surgeon.

I am going to ring them again, and make sure the clerk did check with the medical team, yes no point being called back, and the anxiety that produces.  

After it had been mentioned I Googled it and found an Aussie site which basically said the same as yours above @arpie and did state to wait for six weeks.  Best to be sure than have a false reading and get that dreaded callback.

I just confirmed my mammogram appointment for early January and mentioned I had my booster shot on 21st December, the staff checked with the medical team and they confirmed to come in and have the mammo and U/S, said don't worry about what I had heard.  Seems they are not concerned if the lymph nodes are still swollen, but recommended coming in as scheduled.

Has anyone else had to delay their mammogram and U/S for at least six weeks after their covid shot?

This can cause your mammogram to appear abnormal even when you are OK and there is no indication of cancer.    Enlarged lymph nodes can result in a “false positive” on your mammogram. You may get a request to return for further testing — a call-back — which can be unsettling.

Having had an mx as advised on the referral did not move me up the queue at all. It was the 2 month wait, end of story.
Asking about a list for cancellations - the 'too hard basket'.
At Christmas lunch a (male) friend was telling us that the person doing some tests for him mentioned women not having a mammogram or ultrasound until 6 weeks after any vaccinations - was everyone aware of this ?
With this in mind I emailed the imaging place and guess what ?  I have an appointment tomorrow !  At least it is 11 days earlier (but who's counting ?) and it will be before my covid booster which is now also considered late due to all the rule changes. 

I would be complaining @June1952. That is unacceptable. Did you tell them you have had bc? I would be asking for the manager. 

I go to a specialist place for my mammogram and ultrasound.  I  get results on the day of my mammogram and ultrasound. The place is expensive but I the dr there is one of the best diagnostically in Queensland.  I hope you can get yours when you need it.
