Bone pain

Hi ladies, feeling a bit ordinary today. Day 4 of docetaxol and woke up a little sore, by lunchtime I started to ache. I have taken Panadol and it eases it for 3 hours, throat is scratchy and food is all tasting the same. My spirits are sagging but I'm hanging in there, hoping this won't last too long. I have reread your responses to my docetaxol blog and it all sounds normal, just wanting to know if this passes or does it continue through to my next dose. I was fortunate with the FEC, so maybe I was lulled into a false sense of security. I'm sure it will all be good, just a speedbump. Think I will take to my bed until it eases up, hoping you are all doing ok, just one of those days,

Hazel xx

  • I know I keep going on about it but the manuka honey with at least 10+ UMF will help your throat. Just a little slowly dissolved in the mouth. Convita propolis lozenges are fantastic. Of course all this is only ok if you tolerate bee products. Hope you feel better soon Julie

  • I didn't have the neulasta shot. Is that the shot they give you to rebuld your white cells? I have spent the whole day in bed, mostly sleeping. The aches and pains have been tolerable but my throat is giving me grief, feels like l have razor blades in there. Keeping up the panadol, hoping it eases soon. My temp did rise to 37 but has come back down now, thank goodness. Will keep a check on that. Thanks for your hugs,

  • Oh Hazel ...my thoughts are with you. The bone pain has been the biggest chemo issue for me by far and I'm not quite sure whether its the neulasta shot or the Docetaxol or both. The first time it started Day 5 and by Day 6 I was in a bit of a mess with it .....worse than my 3 end stage childbirths with no analgesia . I called the Oncologist and they gave me endone to take 3 hrly which saved my sanity ....Panadol,panadeine, claratyne and everything else was as much help as a walking stick on wheels .( I'm allergic to antiinflammatories so I can't take them ) This second round I was prepared and got onto it before it got a grip ( but I still have needed endone ) and loaded up on that I can walk 8 km and do a full yoga class . Did you have the neulasta shot ? I think it's really common with that . Don't let it get on top of you Hazel ....call for reinforcements if you need :) look after yourself and I hope you're feeling more comfortable soon . Hugs Karen X
  • Paula is right use this time to rest up and give your body a chance to deal with everything that is being thrown at it. I feel I did not rest enough at this stage of my Chemo and ended up in hospital on day 11 with an infection and neutropenia. You really need to listen to your body and rest, everything else can wait. Keep up the panadol and keep a check on your temp too. Hope you can ride your way through ok. Take extra good care of yourself. Deanne xxx
  • I had taxotare which I think is similar. My bone aches kicked in around day 2 or 3 and lasted about a week. So I did get relief in between times. I used that time as a good excuse to rest up guilt free!!! Not that we should feel guilty for anything when having chemo. I hope yours don't last too long. Hugs to you. Paula
